FAQ

Q. Why should I hire an agency, why can't I just do it myself?

A. There are many do-it-yourself programs out there available for creating your own website. With some time and patience you could try your hand at building your website. However, if you’re a fashion designer you wouldn’t do your own plumbing, so why would you attempt website design? A professionally designed website makes a great first impression with customers and prospects. A professional knows how to develop a user friendly website that loads quickly, is easy to navigate, and is ready for search engines to find. Your site is an extension of your store, your brand and your company. You’re certainly an expert in your business, and Tross Consulting is the expert in ours. We can help you put your best face forward, and blow away the competition. Every site from Tross is a custom web design with your needs, image and budget in mind. We take care of everything so you can focus on your business.

Tross Consulting provides complete turnkey advertising services – we can do the copy, layout and photography for you – in addition to the online advertising. Contact Us today for a consultation, we’ll discuss your specific needs and wants, together we’ll explore the possibilities and then customize a package to turn possibilities into realities.

FAQ

Q. How quickly can my website or graphic design project be ready?

A. There are several factors that play into this, beginning with the details of your project. For example an e-commerce web site will take much longer than a 5 page brochure site. Also, how quickly you are able to provide the required materials and then approve mock ups will play into how quickly your project will be completed.

Generally most websites will take between 4 – 8 weeks, depending on the scope and how quickly I am provided with materials. Some will be quicker, and some will take much longer.

We do not give completion dates for websites, as there are far too many factors to consider that can delay the launch of new sites, however, we are committed to your success and will do my very best to make sure your site is completed in a very timely manner so that you can rock on and do business!

FAQ

Q. Will I be able to update my own site?

A. Yes! All of my website are built with the WordPress content management system platform, which allows you the flexibility to manage and maintain your site yourself. I provide you with the training you need so that you can feel comfortable with managing your site.

If, at any time, you require updates that you’re not comfortable with, I’m here to help you and will provide that service to you at my normal hourly maintenance rate. And, if you don’t ever want to do any updates yourself, that’s fine too! I can provide you with a custom designed maintenance plan, if you anticipate regular updates (which is always recommended for your user’s best experience), or I can bill you hourly, whichever works best for you.

Maintenance plans include additional consulting time as well as page updates, and if you need additional work outside the scope of the maintenance plan you have purchased, you will receive that at my normal hourly rate for service, instead of the higher maintenance rate.

FAQ

Q. I want a Flash website. Do you do that?

A. No. I do not build websites entirely out of Flash. Flash websites cannot be optimized for SEO the way that HTML and CSS websites can, so they are not recommended. Additionally, many mobile devices do not support Flash, so the area that the Flash occupies on your site will show up as a big blank area on a mobile device. With the current technologies available, Flash isn’t necessary for dynamic slideshows that are also mobile device friendly.

DOES MY SMALL BUSINESS NEED SOCIAL MEDIA?

Social media has played a central role in people’s lives for many, many years now. It changed the way people acquire information and shook the world of marketing to its core. Yet many business owners and sceptical marketers are only starting to catch up. Better late than even later. Admittedly, though, there is a good reason for doubting Social Media Marketing: it brings many questions with it.

Here I’ve gathered the most common questions about social media and did my best to answer them in a comprehensive way.

FAQ

Q. Do I really need Social Media?

A. The answer is yes. Let me explain why.

  • Just because you do not take an interest in Social Media doesn’t mean Social Media won’t take an interest in you. There are people leaving reviews of your products, complaining, asking questions. You might not see all that but your potential customers and your potential employees will. That’s because they will Google your company (or the product category) before buying or going for an interview. Research shows that 80% of people do that.
  • Social media is where your target audience is. Apart from maybe a couple of rare exceptions, people of all ages, interests, and socio-economic statuses are on social media. Every popular Social Media platform has a bigger reach than all TV channels combined.
  • The slow and painful death of traditional advertising. No doubt, TV, radio, and billboards were powerful once. However, at some point, there was so much advertising that people became immune to it. Our minds learned to filter out anything that looks like an ad. And, pay attention, Social Media Marketing doesn’t look like an ad. The whole idea of Social Media is to be an informational and entertaining channel as opposed to a promotional one. And this way it still works for, surprisingly, promotion.
  • If done right, Social Media marketing creates trust and loyalty by destroying a harming to businesses feeling that they are a “corporation”, a “system” that is made to only suck the money out of the customers. Social Media shows that there are real people working for the company.
  • Social media facilitates word-of-mouth marketing. People don’t listen to companies, people listen to friends. So when they see a friend on Facebook “liking” a company page, they are more inclined to believe that they truly sell good products.
  • And so much more reasons.

FAQ

Q. What should you post?

A. You should post relevant content that is interesting and/or entertaining to your potential customers. Sounds hard? It really isn’t, if you know your target audience.

Imagine you are selling home and kitchen appliances. What is your target audience interested in? In how all these things work; what coffee maker is the best one; why in the world would you need a rice cooker. Besides, maybe, in recipes, nutrition advice, and so on.

If you are stuck for ideas, you can always ask customers directly what they would like to read about. You can also follow influencers in the niche to get inspired and to share their valuable content. Truth is, the more you write, the more you discover unexplored topics or topics that can be looked at from a different angle.

FAQ

Q. Which social media platforms should my business have a presence on?

It is common advice to be on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google +, and any popular local social network. If your product is visually appealing, consider Instagram and Pinterest. For a more comprehensive guide, read about the difference between social media platforms and its meaning for your business.
